Pet Policy

Allowed Pets

Common household pets are permitted, including:

• Dogs

• Cats

• Birds

• Fish (maximum 20-gallon tank)

Pets such as reptiles, rodents, rabbits, and ferrets are not permitted.

Number of Pets

• Maximum of two pets per household

• A fish tank counts as one pet

Pet Requirements

Before a pet can be approved, the following requirements must be met:

• Pets must be in good health

• Dogs and cats must be spayed or neutered

• Dogs and cats must be at least 1 year old

• Cats must be declawed in the front

• Dogs and cats must be licensed and up to date on vaccinations

• A veterinarian verification form must be completed by a licensed Iowa veterinarian

Restricted Dog Breeds

For safety and insurance reasons, the following breeds (and mixes of these breeds) are not permitted:

• Pit Bull

• American Bulldog

• American Staffordshire Terrier

• Rottweiler

• Chow Chow

• Wolf breeds or wolf hybrids (including Huskies)

• Akita

• St. Bernard

• Mastiff

• Cane Corso

• Doberman

• German Shepherd

Pet Deposit & Pet Rent

• Deposit: $350

• Monthly Pet Rent: $35​

Assistance Animals

Townhall Apartments complies with Fair Housing laws regarding assistance animals.

Assistance animals:

• Are not subject to pet restrictions or pet fees

• Must still be registered with management

• Must be in good health and properly vaccinated

Owners of assistance animals are responsible for any damage caused by the animal.
